Plans are underway for the Washington Town & Country Fair Parade, scheduled for Sunday, July 29. Each year, a Grand Marshal and Honor Group are selected to lead the parade. The awards are designed to recognize an outstanding individual (Grand Marshal) and organization (Honor Group) that better our community through service, leadership, and volunteerism.

UPDATE - Whiskey Myers will be performing in place of The Turnpike Troubadours. Chris Knight and Jason Boland & The Stragglers will still perform as originally scheduled. Washington, MO – January 15, 2018 – The Washington Town & Country Fair has made its first entertainment announcement for 2018 – a Red Dirt triple feature. On Friday, August 3rd, Chris Knight, Jason Boland & The Stragglers, and The Turnpike Troubadours will perform on the Pepsi Main Stage. Seating is general admission and the concert is included with your entry ticket to the fair. The Red Dirt music style is a new offering for the Fair, but one that 2018 Chairman Brian Gildehaus is thrilled about. “What a great opportunity for us to bring a new genre to the stage, with three of the biggest names in Red Dirt.” Chris Knight, a 20-year veteran with 8 albums and a still uncompromised reputation as one of the best singer/songwriters in America, will open the show. Jason Boland & The Stragglers will follow with a high energy performance that remains steadfast and true to the country music of old. The night ends with The Turnpike Troubadours, who have taken the Texas/Red Dirt scene by storm with a mix of excellent songwriting, superior musicianship and a killer live show. Tickets for Friday, August 3rd are on sale now at washmofair.com. Admission to the fair includes concerts, midway rides, shows, exhibits, livestock shows, and motorsports events. 2017 Chairman, Joe Maniaci, presented the Fair's annual report Thursday, January 11. He was quick to thank our sponsors, volunteers, and fairgoers, giving an extra shout-out to the City of Washington and the Parks Department. There are so many groups, businesses, and individuals who help make our fair the great success it is. Despite some challenges (rain, Lynyrd Skynyrd cancellation, Motocross cancellation, paved surface needed for 9/11 exhibit), the Fair Board and partners rose to the occasion time and again. The result was five fun days in Fairadise, and and a local economic impact of over $1 million! Do you love the Fair? Do you want to work hard with an amazing group of people to keep making it better? If so, we hope you will consider applying for our Fair Board or Junior Fair Board!

We had a great parade Sunday, July 30th through the streets of Washington. A big crowd watched along the route, and over 300 viewed our live-stream on YouTube (if you missed it, watch the saved version here)! There were nearly 100 entries, and the floats looked fantastic! Grand Marshal was Jim Briggs (who road on the Wells Fargo Stage Coach), and the Honor Group was the City of Washington (riding on a tram decorated by Hillermann Nursery & Florist). Special thanks to our parade sponsors, John & Rita Griesheimer, and Pepsi-Cola Bottling Co. of New Haven. The parade video was sponsored by Washington Fence Co. Float winners were Planet Gymnastics (1st), Our Lady of Lourdes (2nd), and Borgia Grade School (3rd). Thanks to all who decorated floats! We'd also like to take a moment to thank our awesome parade committee. It takes a lot of work and planning to make the parade happen every year and we are grateful to those who volunteer to make it a success! Pictures are available below, and The Missourian also has a great album here. A live video 2017 Washington Town & Country Fair Parade will be available on the fair website this year! Those unable to attend the parade in person can visit www.washmofair.com/live to see the live video. It can also be viewed from the Fair's YouTube channel. Special thanks to Matt Wilson from Wilson Video Productions and our parade video sponsor, Washington Fence Company!
